Model: Jamie Location: Wheaton Jamie did an amazing job on this costume and I managed to get a few good shots of it for her! So today I learned that cosplay photography is a lot harder than I thought. I'm trying to force myself to shoot in manual more often and get comfortable with that instead of always using auto. The problem I run into is this grainy texture I end up with. I'm happy with the photos I got, but this is a perfect example of study the character and practice, practice, practice! Stephy G

Model: Colleen Location: Cantigny/Wheaton I've been spending time trying to figure out how to do crisp motion shots in manual and have been having a good time experimenting with that. I can't wait to do more motion and action shots in the future. Just need to learn how to really direct them and get the model into a composition I like. Bottom left image is a good example of what I think I need to work on. I love the motion, but ideally I would have liked it to be more centered, but that is what experimenting is for! Colleen, thank you for being such a ready and willing test dummy for my photography ventures haha. I love these photos from Cantigny in particular because I feel like they really show who Colleen is. A free spirit, beautiful, energetic and happy. This is why I love portraits over any other form of photography. I can turn my camera around to my friends I'm photographing and show them exactly how I see them in the world. Stephy G |
